Three Picnic Spots in Benin

For those of us who like to be bourgie (bougie? bourgeois?) and have picnics outdoors at 36°, you will be pleased to know that there are picnic spots in Benin you can try. Picnics are, after all, a great way to enjoy the outdoors, the mosquitoes, heat and foul smell notwithstanding.

Here are three wonderful picnic spots in Benin that will leave you thinking you are in one of those Hollywood fantasies:

Golf Course

Located in GRA, Benin City, the Benin Golf Course is an excellent place to have a wonderful picnic. With its luscious green grass and spacious upper-class air, you are sure to enjoy your picnic. Go there with friends and family and create wonderful moments. If you are the type that likes selfies, the Golf Course is picturesque enough to pepper those your imagined haters. Do watch out for the flying golf balls though!

Image Garden

This garden at Boundary Road, GRA, is another place you can go for a picnic. It is quiet and spacious for an afternoon outing. As long as you come prepared with whatever you will need for the picnic, you should find the place enjoyable. And once you are properly steamed under the unforgiving Benin sun, you can cool off in one of those beautiful restaurants on Boundary Road.

Ogba Zoo

If you do not mind the faint smell of the faeces of emaciated animals – I’m just joking – Ogba Zoo is excellent for a picnic. Located on Airport Road, it is a serene place to spread your blanket and enjoy your food, while the annoying little ones play around and you threaten to feed them to the very hungry lions, ah, such good times.

Know any other picnic spots in Benin City? As long as it is not your father’s backyard, leave us a comment.
