So we’ve seen a wood-obsessed establishment and a snail-focused restaurant in Benin, but unlike these, Peppersoup Monster has a dedication to its theme that doesn’t just stop at aesthetics; it is absolutely and unashamedly committed to pepper soup.
Located at 35 Ugbor Village Road, GRA, Peppersoup Monster wants us to invest in pepper soup. But is sit any good, in this article, we explore the pepper soup establishment to find out
The Establishment
For the rich gangs who drive in this economy, note that Peppersoup Monster has a spacious car park where you can safely park your vehicles. There is an outdoor and interior space at Peppersoup Monster.
The interior space is usually quieter with fewer people so if that is the kind of vibes you like, Peppersoup Monster has you covered. There is a bar arrangement and soft cushioned seats where you can really relax and have sane conversations with your pals.
Even though the indoor space is fantastic, the winner for me is the outdoor bamboo-walled area. With its ivy roof that welcomes you with the words: The Peppersoup Life, wooden benches, and palm frond arrangement, there’s just something about it that I really liked.
The Pepper Soup
If it is not clear to you already, the menu is pepper soup. I mean, you could get eba and rice as sides but the main dish is unquestionably pepper soup. We are talking goat meat pepper soup, catfish pepper soup, assorted meat pepper soup, smoked chicken pepper soup, and so on and so forth.
The food looked really nice when it came but it took a while for it to come – about 45 minutes to 1 hour in fact. The dishes are affordable as far as pepper soup is concerned. There are in the range of NGN6,000 to NGN10,000. More important, they were delicious.
The staff at Peppersoup Monster was very polite and helpful. Save for the fact that the food came late, we had literally no notes for them.
Our Verdict
Peppersoup Monster made the bold choice to serve just pepper soup and we think it works for them. We loved the aesthetics of the establishment. We enjoyed the food and the visit was fun. We’d certainly encourage you to go there.
