If you really want to blow like a G-boy this year, here are ten jobs you can do in Benin. Heads up, yahoo is not part of it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to make some legit money and avoiding unnecessary shege and there are right and wrong ways to do it.
In this post, we’ll be looking at ten quiet ways to make money in Benin City.
Jobs You Can Do in Benin
First of all, do what you love. Don’t enter into anything because you heard you can make baller’s money. At the expense of what? Your sanity? Your happiness? Secondly, I will not mention too many tech-related jobs, fake jobs like Affiliate Marketing, or obvious money-makers. With no further ado, here’s my list:
Snack Making
Stop looking for Mat-Ice capital before you start making snacks and small-chops. I’m not saying you should think small; it’s all in the packaging. All you need to do if you have the skills and love for making snacks is to have a great name – I’m talking Snackiezy, Snacks2go, Sinful Snacks, Snacks-like-a-Crime (please don’t steal any of these obviously wonderful names o), open an Instagram account, and post the stuff you make. Wambam, business has started. Sha make sure the thing is sweet. After all, the only thing more important than getting a customer to buy your stuff is getting them to do so again.
Small-scale Catering
Capitalize on people’s laziness and make cool money. Provided you know how to cook, being a caterer can see you making a lot of money. Basically, as a small-scale caterer, you focus on cooking for smaller groups of people. You can market yourself as someone who cooks a week’s worth of food for customers. You can also cater for really small get-together-type events. The benefit of this is that you do not need a lot of capital or knowledge to start.
Graphic Designing
If you see the money someone collected just to do logo, you will stop your day job and start learning how to design cartoons. Gone are the days when you need a computer and Corel Draw to be a graphics designer, today people are doing big stuff with Canva on their phones. Also, to be successful in this field, create an online presence using social media platforms and ensure you frequently update these with your work.
CV Writer
I will not lie to you, CV writing is a heartless job. Should I tell you why? Because, these writers will just be billing customers knowing full well that most of their patronage comes from the unemployed. But it is a good business and there is some money to be made. All you need is fantastic word processing skills and knowledge of what a good CV should look like.
Social Media Influencer
While this set of people is very annoying, they are rich. Building an influence does not start and end in a day, so if you are going into this, you need to have a lot of patience. You also need to hone your vlogging and content creation skills. Everyone knows that a minute of video content takes several hours to make so it is important you come correct from the get-go.
Photographer
Do you need a Nikon, Fuji, or Panasonic to become a photographer today? No! Just whip out an iPhone 8 or XR, and you are good to go. If you cannot afford those, you can go for the cheapest Pixel you can find. These phones will take great photos that you can put up on your social media. After you’ve landed your first gigs, you will have enough money to get a proper camera so that clients will not be looking at you like, “Phone photographer, shey I cannot use my phone to snap before?“.
Make-Up Artist
This is one of those dope jobs you can do in Benin. I mean, at this point, we all know how the thing goes. Make-up artists are still one of the most underrated ballers in this Benin. I mean, how will somebody’s child just pay another human being 50k or more to beat their face, no be juju be that?
Drop-shipping
I know, another annoying set of people. Like, be for real, we know you don’t have that many duvets or pairs of leather shoes in your house. Plus, can they stop posting by the minute on WhatsApp Status? I’m trying to see memes, not stuff I can’t afford. Whether you like it or not, drop-shippers make a lot of money by adding criminal amounts to the actual price of the stuff you wish to buy. Sha don’t be one of those ‘DM for prices’ sellers, I will ignore your life.
Phone Repairer
Every day, people‘s phones get bad and they need someone to repair it. As such, phone repairers come in handy a lot. You’ll be surprised the amount that some of these phone repairers quote for components that your phone needs. Just don’t be the one that some will come to repair charging port and leave with screen and camera problem.
Laundry Services
Washing clothes can prove to be very lucrative. You can help with the washing, ironing, or starching of clothing items for a fee. You do not need anything but your hands, water and soap to start so it’s fantastic for those who do not have capital.
